The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait International Automobile Club,Mr.Emad Bukhamseen, praised the re-election of Mohammed bin Sulayem as President of the International Automobile Federation, stressing that obtaining this high percentage of votes reflects “the great confidence he enjoys in international sports circles, and his ability to lead one of the largest sports organizations in the world.”Bukhamsin said that during his first term, Bin Sulayem “succeeded, thanks to his wisdom, experience, and extensive relationships with sports officials around the world, in bringing about a major transformation in motorsports in its various categories, and enhancing the presence of the Arab world in international decision-making.”
He added that his re-election “represents a gain for Arabs in general, and for Kuwait in particular,” noting that Kuwait was Bin Sulayem’s first stop in the world of rallying, from where he launched his international fame, which makes the relationship between the two sides a historic and well-established one.
Bukhamseen revealed that he met with Bin Sulayem and Vice President Issa Hamza after the conclusion of the General Assembly, where they discussed ways to develop motorsports in Kuwait, especially given that the country has the largest motorsports city in the Gulf, which includes six diverse circuits for all types of races.
bukhamseen revealed that he had extended an invitation to Bin Salim to visit Kuwait, and that Bin Salim had accepted the invitation immediately, stressing his keenness to meet with a number of senior officials in the Amiri Diwan and the Ministry of Youth to discuss restoring motorsports in Kuwait to its leading position that it had known for many years.
He confirmed that Ben Sulayem expressed his full readiness to support Kuwait in its upcoming development programs, stressing the importance of “utilizing these huge facilities in the best possible way to benefit motorsports and motorcycling in Kuwait, the Gulf countries and the Middle East.”
bukhamseen concluded his statement by emphasizing that “the next phase will witness close cooperation between Kuwait and the International Automobile Federation, as an extension of the historical relationship with Mohammed bin Sulayem and Issa Hamza, and to support motorsports in the region.”
